DETENTION’s music is punky, youthful angst with a solid bit of headbanging. Their pop punk anthem ‘56 Minutes’ has been in heavy rotation on Sirius XM (Faction Punk), SNL’s Fred Armisen joined them on stage at a recent show, and they have a string of festivals booked for the summer of 2022, DETENTION is the next big thing—and a band that’s having a blast paying their dues.


DETENTION is a high-energy pop-punk, alt rock band of teens from Akron, Ohio. During 2021, they performed at Wonderstruck Music Festival in Cleveland, Wonderbus Music Festival in Columbus Ohio

among headliners Portugal. The Man, AJR, Kesha, AJR and Dayglow. After their power-house performance on the third stage, Denny Young, President of the Elevation Group invited DETENTION to play the main stage at Wonderstruck, WonderBus amd WonderRoad (Indianapolis) in 2022. DETENTION recently played with Gerald Casale of Devo and Fred Armisen (SNL, Portlandia) at DEVOtional in Cleveland.

DETENTION­­­­ played at the world-famous Whisky a Go Go in LA and had crowd-surfing fans as they won the 24th Annual Tri-C High School Rock Off at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. Barry Gabel, Senior Vice President for Live Nation said, “The band was tight, fun, exciting, and had the audience going crazy!”

DETENTION spent the quarantine performing a bi-weekly residency at Jilly’s Music Room and working on new music and videos such as 56 minutes In Reverse and Good + Ready.

Detention includes lead singer Elliott Carter (17), bassist Fritz Dannemiller (19), drummer Luke Konopka (16) and guitarist Evans Cox (15).
